Meaning and lived experience

Judgement, authorship and responsibility

Mohammadreza Mehran Jalil2-minute read

My proposition that meaning requires lived experience is a philosophical position about our relationship with the world. We can arrange words and produce persuasive images. The significance of what we say also depends on encountering consequences and accepting responsibility for them.

As the production of content becomes easier, a more demanding question comes into view: who is accountable for choosing and publishing it?

Fluent expression is not sufficient

A well-formed answer does not establish that the underlying problem has been understood. A text may discuss values while overlooking the real conflict an organisation faces. Experience helps reveal what is difficult, what is at stake and what a decision may cost.

Intelligent tools can assist research, comparison and formulation. Their use does not remove the author’s responsibility to evaluate evidence and consider consequences.

Authorship requires an accountable position

An author contributes more than a name beneath a text. They should be able to explain its reasoning, recognise its limits and respond to criticism. A hypothetical example should not become a personal recollection; a proposition should not be presented as an established finding.

This distinction matters especially for a personal brand. Credibility is not simply the accumulation of published material. It rests on the relationship between thought, experience and responsibility.

Return the text to the world

Before publication, useful questions include: what does this clarify? What has it simplified too far? Would I defend it if someone used it to inform a decision?

For me, meaning gains substance through this responsible encounter with reality. Production is one part of the work. Judgement remains essential.

This reflection connects with Brand Philosophy, Medical, Aesthetic & Dental Branding, Luxury & Premium Branding, where these ideas are considered in the context of practical decisions.
